Partner Resource
The Counselling Collab partners with Gabrielle Mendoza, founder of Uncovering the Oasis Within, to offer clients additional pathways into rest, body awareness, and restorative practice.
For clients who wish to explore the body-based side of healing more deeply, Gabrielle's work offers a gentle, supportive space to slow down, reconnect with the body, and discover practices rooted in safety, stillness, and embodied care.
The Partnership
At The Counselling Collab, we believe that healing is often supported not only through insight and conversation, but also through the body's experience of safety.
Gabrielle Mendoza, founder of Uncovering the Oasis Within, is a Registered Yoga Teacher trained in trauma-sensitive yoga and somatic therapy. Through mindfulness, meditation, restorative yoga, and embodied practices, she supports people in managing stress, reconnecting with themselves, and finding steadier ways to rest.
This partnership reflects a shared belief: that meaningful care happens when people feel understood, supported, and safe enough to return to themselves.

About
Uncovering the Oasis Within offers 1:1 and group restorative practices centred on deep rest, embodied connection, and gentle self-awareness. It is also a community for those seeking renewal, stillness, and deeper self-connection.
Gabrielle leads this work with warmth, compassion, and integrity. Her approach creates space for people to slow down and listen inwardly, especially during seasons of stress, transition, or emotional overwhelm.
Scarlette's Story
Scarlette began her yoga journey in 2017 during a deeply challenging period of personal upheaval, where yoga offered stability and strength during a time that felt emotionally uncertain.
Over time, her practice became active and strengthening. It was only after meeting Gabrielle and encountering restorative yoga that she discovered another dimension of practice: slowing down, listening inwardly, and finding safety in stillness.
In 2022–2023, Scarlette joined a restorative yoga retreat and completed the 30-hour OASIS Restorative Yoga training hosted by Gabrielle. What began as professional curiosity became both a personal and clinical discovery.
Restorative yoga uses supported postures, breath, and stillness to cultivate deep rest. Unlike more active forms of yoga, its focus is not on exertion, but on creating safety in the body — a space where stress can be noticed, softened, and gently held.
The value of these practices became especially evident during Scarlette's pregnancy and postpartum season. In a time of significant change and vulnerability, restorative work offered grounding, softening, and a way to return to herself.
This experience continues to shape her therapeutic perspective and reinforces her belief that healing often deepens when people feel safe not only in conversation, but within their bodies.

Supporting Clients
Today, restorative practice forms one of the foundations of how Scarlette supports clients — integrating talk therapy, body awareness, and rest. For clients who wish to explore restorative practice more deeply, Gabrielle and the Oasis community offer a supportive next step through group classes, webinars, retreats, trainings, and outreach initiatives.
Gentle practices that help people notice what the body may be carrying, without forcing change.
Restorative practices that support slowing down, softening, and creating a greater sense of internal steadiness.
Opportunities to explore restorative practice through webinars, group sessions, retreats, and trainings.
A resource for clients who want to continue exploring mind-body support alongside therapy.
