When Money Becomes a Source of Tension
Many couples do not struggle because they lack care for each other. They struggle because money conversations can quickly touch deeper fears, expectations, and old patterns.
Often, these challenges are not just about the numbers. They are about what money has come to represent in the relationship.
Areas of Support
Financial therapy creates space for both the practical and emotional sides of money — so you can understand what is happening beneath the conflict and begin to move forward together.
Learn to talk about finances with less blame, avoidance, defensiveness, or escalation.
Understand why each partner approaches money differently, and how to work with those differences more constructively.
Clarify shared priorities around lifestyle, housing, children, career shifts, investments, or long-term planning.
Explore the emotional impact of income differences, one-income households, financial dependence, or unequal responsibility.
Make space for the stress, fear, shame, or uncertainty that can come with debt, risk, investing, or future planning.
Understand how family background, past experiences, and early messages about money shape your present patterns.
Identify the cycles you keep getting stuck in — and learn how to interrupt them with more awareness and care.
Develop a clearer, more collaborative way to make financial decisions that reflects both partners' needs and values.
Our Approach
Our work integrates relational therapy with an understanding of financial systems, decision-making, and the emotional meaning of money.
Together, we explore your individual money histories, the patterns that show up in your relationship, and the fears, needs, or values sitting beneath financial conflict. From there, we work towards more productive communication, shared clarity, and a financial approach that feels more aligned for both of you.
Where helpful, Scarlette can also draw from her background in finance, including prior CFA training, to support conversations around structure, trade-offs, and decision-making. This is always done in service of the relationship — not as financial advising or investment planning.
The aim is not simply to agree on everything. It is to build a deeper sense of trust, partnership, and emotional safety around one of the most common sources of tension in relationships.

What to Expect
Sessions are collaborative, practical, and emotionally attuned. The work begins with understanding both the financial issue and the relational pattern around it.
A free 15-minute call to understand what you are facing, answer your questions, and see whether this support feels like the right fit.
We begin by exploring the financial concerns, family histories, communication difficulties, and recurring dynamics that have been affecting your relationship.
Together, we identify what you both hope to change — whether that is clearer communication, less conflict, more transparency, or a more shared approach to household finances.
Session by session, we work on communication tools, emotional insight, and practical structures that help you navigate financial conversations with more steadiness and partnership.
First consultation is complimentary — no commitment required.
